Conda packages¶
The following quick guide explains how to prepare a conda environment and install the package in it.
Prerequisites¶
Set up conda on your system first. We recommend using mamba, e.g. through micromamba.
It is generally considered good practice to set up a new conda environment to keep your installation isolated:
conda create -n runner-installation
conda activate runner-installation
Our package is hosted on the conda-forge channel. The channel can be configured manually beforehand, if preferred, or will be set automatically by conda on package installation:
conda config --add channels conda-forge
Available Packages¶
The RuNNer package can be found on anaconda.org. On default, the package can be installed by
conda install conda-forge::runner
GNU builds (recommended for most users)¶
Open-source builds using gfortran and OpenBLAS.
There is a serial version, providing the executable RuNNer.x, which can be explicitly installed by
conda install conda-forge::runner==gnu_omp_
and an OpenMPI parallel build
conda install conda-forge::runner==gnu_mpi_omp_
that provides a MPI-parallel executable RuNNer_mpi.x.
Intel build (for enhanced performance)¶
Proprietary build based on the Intel oneAPI 2025. Offers noticeable (though not
dramatic) performance improvements over the GNU build. Provides only the
serial executable RuNNer.x.
conda install conda-forge::runner==intel_
Do not mix GNU and Intel package
The GNU and Intel package do not mix well. Please use separate conda environments if you need to install both.
